CVEM is a 30+ year-old outreach ministry of the Episcopal churches in the Chattahoochee Valley region of the Diocese of Atlanta.  Its mission is to provide charity, empowerment, and advocacy to God's people in need in the Chattahoochee Valley area. The Ministry has also been cited as a model of successful collaboration among ecumenical and interfaith organizations.


CVEM is proud to be a Jubilee Ministry of  The Episcopal Church since 1989.

Our Focus Includes:

  • direct assistance for persons in need
  • initiatives for children & youth
  • empowerment and advocacy for the impoverished & disenfranched
  • support & referrals for those who have experienced incest/sexual abuse
  • educational classes, workshops & resources

The Lay Missioner founded this Ministry in response to a spiritual call in 1980.  In addition to her passion and peerless energy for CVEM, she is extremely active in organizations and around issues of social justice, both locally and nationally. Vicky is on the  NeighborWorks Columbus Board of Directors and served as founding board member and Race Relation Dialogue Group facilitator with One Columbus; board member of  B.R.I.D.G.E. education program for high school drop-outs, and Valley Interfaith Promise (VIP).  She served as a Lay Deputy to Episcopal General Convention 2009 and participates nationally within Jubilee Ministries, Episcopal Network for Economic Justice (ENEJ), Episcopal Public Policy Network, and Episcopal Peace Fellowship.

 

Currently, Vicky is serving as Convocational Lay Representative on the Bishop Nominating Committee which continues through February 2012 when candidates are presented to the Standing Committee.
