Popcorn Theology at St. Mark's

  • St. Mark's Episcopal Church 207 N Greenwood St LaGrange, GA, 30240 United States (map)

Do you see yourself as a movie buff or cinema junkie? Do you love the smell of hot, fresh popcorn? Do you love sharing an evening at the movies with your friends? If the answer to any of the above is a “yes”, then St. Mark’s Popcorn Theology is something you will enjoy and want to be part of. We meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 5:00 pm for pizza, a movie and some fellowship and discussion. Please bring $5.00 to offset the cost of food and drink. August 16: Selma—Selma chronicles the tumultuous three-month period in 1965, when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson (Tom Wilkinson) signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965, one of the most significant victories for the civil rights movement. Director Ava DuVernay’s Selma tells the real story of the revered leader and visionary Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (David Oyelowo) and his brothers and sisters in the movement that prompted change that forever altered history.
