About this week's speaker:
The Rev. Greg Tallant is a native of Coal Mountain, GA, a small community in the northern part of Forsyth County. He graduated from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC in 1991 with a double major in English and Political Science and a new spiritual home in the Episcopal Church after being raised Southern Baptist. Greg was sponsored for ordination by the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Cumming and enrolled at General Seminary (Fr. Tim's alma mater!) in 2004. Upon graduation in 2007, Greg was ordained to the priesthood and served for nearly five years as youth minister and Associate Rector at St. Peter's in Rome, GA. In February 2012, Greg was called to be the rector of Holy Trinity Parish in Decatur, GA. He has served on various diocesan groups including the Commission on Ministry, the 10th Bishop Search Committee, Episcopal Communities Foundation (ECF), and the Congregational Vitality task force, though parish life and work is by far the most fun and satisfying.
Greg and his wife Emily both have deep roots in Georgia and their two boys Andrew and James are 10th generation Georgians. Greg used to be a basketball player but now has settled for golf as "exercise." He loves Baptist and Episcopal hymns and probably developed his theology a little too much from reading comic books all his life.
