CVEM is on the move!

Like the ancient Israelites, CVEM has been called to move!
Our Lockwood Avenue location served CVEM well for many years! Many programs found a home here such as Infusion, Conversation Cafe, and Shedding Our Secrets. For a decade we extended an invitation of welcome to our neighbors seeking assistance through Direct Service and learned much about hospitality and the blessings of being with our neighbors many view as less-than. While the space here no longer supports our vision, we carry the lessons and blessings of this time and place with us.
Two guiding principles of our mission to fight inequities and help build strong communities are dignity and proximity. We want to build transformative relationships with our neighbors in a particular low-income / low-resourced neighborhood where we can leverage our resources and privilege, support and help increase agency of fellow neighbors, and help create economic opportunity in that neighborhood.
Also like the ancient Israelites: we don't yet know where we're going! While we are looking for a new home we will continue to fully operate. Direct Service will continue as we have throughout the pandemic: primarily by phone to recipients throughout our service region.
Be assured that the work of CVEM will continue while we are on the move. As always, thank you for your continued partnership and support of CVEM.
Faithfully,
Martha Robert, Executive Director
Courtney Twigg and Chaille Sullivan, Board Co-Presidents
